Company Objectives

Westminster's company objectives and goals are to provide consulting services through:

  1. Fraud investigation for the public and private sectors which includes criminal and civil investigations of suspected criminal activity;

    For private companies and public agencies whose accountants have discovered red flags during audits, Westminster examiners will provide a comprehensive investigation of internal controls, processes, and procedures in the determination of potential fraudulent activity. Some of these activities will involve the use of data mining software and include examination of bank statements, cancelled checks, invoices, purchase orders, vendor information, accounts receivable documents, accounts payable documents, cash disbursement records, journals, and other records as needed. For example, examiners will compare vendor information with employee records to determine if related-party transactions are occurring or fraudulent vendor information has been provided to the company. Employee records will be examined for ghost employees, payroll schemes, and false entries. Accounts payable records will be compared to invoices and bank records to verify that forged endorser, forged maker, and authorized maker schemes are not present.

  2. Financial investigations pertaining to potential civil litigation;

    Services include: horizontal and vertical analyses, ratios, and financial statement evaluations in order to determine inefficiencies and low productivity; observation and employee interviews to compare actual operations to management expectations; examination of the appeal and effectiveness of marketing campaigns on consumer spending; a comparison of the company's mission and vision statements with public perception and image; and, other such services. Examiners will evaluate competitors brands, marketing mix, and consumer confidence in order to provide an objective analysis of the client's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.

  3. Expert Witness Testimony and Litigation Support;

    Westminster also provides support services to law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and litigation attorneys by participation in the execution of search warrants, performing data and document analyses, and evaluating and reporting on evidence pertaining to investigations. Examiners will also advise these clients on documents which should be subpoenaed or requested in order to provide the most accurate information to the court. Westminster examiners will provide deposition testimony as needed and expert witness testimony for those cases which go to trial.

  4. Business consulting geared to the evaluation of internal control systems;

    Westminster consultants advise clients in establishing proper internal control policies in day-to-day operations, as well as short- and long-term planning, of private companies. The greatest deterrent to fraudulent activity is the potential for discovery and prosecution. Discovery comes from a strong system of internal controls. Internal controls aid in the prevention of fraud and preventative methods are much easier to instigate, as well as significantly less costly, than detection once a fraud has been committed.
